About Promise U ®

Promise U ™ is a fully transparent and energetic start-up founded by Sara (me) who remains its current Founder and CEO. Sara identified the need for alcohol-based sanitizer amid a global pandemic. After a week of extensive research and planning, Sara travelled throughout the state of Texas, compromising her own physical safety and financial well-being to gather items necessary per Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) recommended alcohol-based sanitizer.

The aim was to provide an effective alcohol-based antiseptic to prevent community spread and provide a sense of comfort to those in the midst of a global pandemic recession. The formula is strictly followed per the FDA recommendations.

Presently, we have an attorney (Mr. Reid) on retainer along with a CPA (Mr. Rae) who  previously worked as a Senior Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later worked as a Special Agent with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with over 20 years of experience in these fields.  Mr. Rae oversees the accounting of our efforts in raising funds.

Sara's vision...from her own words.  The vision for Promise U LLC began a month ago originating from my very own fear and paranoia about disease spread and the grave health implications it would have for our community and our way of life.

When news that the pandemic (COVID-19) first identified its victim the U.S., I grew deeply concerned in fully realizing the prospective spread of disease and massive casualty loss that would lead to the unspeakable suffering felt by both the American people and our neighbors abroad.

I worried about my father who has diabetes, my elderly grandmothers (one who has since passed from COVID-19), and even grew concerned about my own health as someone who suffers from chronic hypertension.

Story time…

Leading up to COVID-19, I was always a germaphobe and “clean freak” -- that gal who kept a tidy home with mopped floors. I’d always say in a pleasant tone as I opened the door to enter my home, “Ahhhh….it smells like Colorado….” The pine scent that infused my clean home was in fact Pine Sol. I loved coming home to Colorado...

Such clean practices were in fact habitual and a learned “chore” growing up in a tidy, clean household. In always having a plentiful stock of Lysol and purell in my cupboards, news of the pandemic hitting the U.S. caused my heart to sink and stress levels to elevate. Immediately, I called my parents who are now divorced. “Mom….Dad...how are you on Lysol? Hand sanitizer….Alcohol? Peroxide….” As they answered to me that their supply was limited. With this knowledge, I searched the online marketplace to see the words, “SOLD OUT”. My heart sinking even deeper, I dodged for my cleaning product cabinet. Large sighs of relief. About 10 bottles of Lysol and a similar amount of Purell… Long story short, I kept one of each product for myself and gave the rest to my parents. Days later, my mother called me and said, “Mi hija...I’m so scared for you...I don’t want you getting hurt because one bottle isn’t enough…” I shared her concern privately, but assured her I’d be okay.

During isolation and hearing the national news television talking heads on several prominent networks inciting fears of COVID-19, I knew I had to help somehow. Whether it was to sew face masks or volunteer. After a few days went on, I was staring at a bottle of Cartier’s Baiser Voile -- the very bottle I gave my grandmother during this past (and her last) Christmas. The “Ah ha” moment then hit me. Chemistry. I used to make my own perfume out of alcohol and essential oils.  A few Google searches later and the FDA.gov issued the clearance for independents to create and sell to aid in the price gouging and shortage of antiseptic alcohol-based sprays…

I ran with it going 120 miles an hour.  Non-stop.  Secretive, yet excited. A promise of prevention in spreading disease, for community effort, and alleviation of fear during uncertain moments. A “promise” to “u”. Like the fearless, yet adventurous born-and-bred and bonafide Texan woman, I hopped in my car and drove to every store throughout Texas to gather the materials. I considered this my essential duty since I was going to find the ethanol, peroxide, glycerin, and distilled water -- all required by the FDA.gov.

Then days later, I learned my grandmother, Nora Benavides De La Cruz was diagnosed with COVID-19 in her Austin, TX nursing home days after a false test result and confirmed pneumonia. She subsequently died from COVID-19 complications on April 19, 2020.
